Welcome to theSurfAShop.com
theSurfAShop.com has grown out of the SurfA.com.au website, which set out in 2001 to capture and publish the elements of the Art, the Lifestyle and the Sport of Surfing.
Over 1400 articles were amassed on the SurfA.com.au website, with the years between 2001 and 2004 being dedicated to daily reporting on and from as many WCT, WQS, WWCT, WWQS, WLT, WJS and Masters events we could either get to, or get information about.
We also followed the design principles of surfboards from the very first board (circa 1600) , through the Duke, Bob Simmons, Pintail, Velzy & Dale (mals) designs, the Cabel, McTavish, Greenough and Nat Young innovations, the Mark Richards twin fin and Simon Anderson three fin changes, and into the Nev, Rod Dahlberg & Darren Handley creations.
We helped to promote the underground movement AiR Surfing (AiR SurfA) making trips to the USA to work with the pioneers of the SMAS Air Circuit, before it became incorporated into the more mainstream surf sport circuit,
When we found, back in 2002, that there existed almost no photographs of the early women pioneers of surfing, some who had been professionally surfing for up to 15 years, we started a SurfAGirl section, to encourage more interest in their side of the sport.
We believe we were the very first group to put together the full list of Surfing's official and unofficial World Champions, and we spent a lot of time explaining how the whole professional surfing circuit worked.
We worked to bring you articles, to introduce you to talented artists, like the Hua Design team, a group of NZ boys sitting in their loungeroom after a hard days 'dishwashing' duties - carving out beautiful, and meaningful sculptures out of old surfboard blanks.
And, while all that information remains archived back at the www.surfa.com.au website for you to peruse, or reference at any time (as we know you do - publications) - we have for sometime been looking to create, collate, 'unique' and 'artistic' surfing Lifestyle Products - which we could doffer to you the Lifestyle surfer.
And this is it. This is where we start. We offer you, theSurfAShop.com.
